Actor Donald Sutherland, figure of “The Bastard Twelve”, “MASH” and “Hunger Games”, has died at the age of 88, his family announces

His son Kiefer Sutherland, also an actor, made it known on Thursday on social networks.

Canadian actor Donald Sutherland, figure of Twelve Bastardsof MASH or even Hunger Gamesdied at the age of 88 following a long illness, his family announced on Thursday June 20. “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the death of my father”, announced on the social network X his son Kiefer Sutherland, also an actor. He greets “one of the most important actors in the history of cinema”. Donald Sutherland has appeared in some 150 films.

Donald Sutherland was a member of the jury for the feature films of the Cannes film festival in 2016, which evoked a “respected, prolific and versatile actor”. The Festival also mentioned its presence on the bill of “classics” as The Day of the Scourge, People like the others or 1900.

“He was never intimidated by a role, whether good, bad or ugly”added his son. “He loved what he did and did what he loved, and you couldn’t ask for anything more. A life well lived.” Donald Sutherland received an honorary Academy Award for his entire career in 2017.
