Surfer and actor Tamayo Perry was bitten and killed by a shark in Hawaii. He appeared in the surfing film “Blue Crush” with Kate Bosworth.

Surfer, lifeguard and actor Tamayo Perry was attacked and killed by a shark off the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Perry died on Sunday (local time) while surfing, said the deputy head of the Department of Marine Safety of Honolulu, Kurt Lager, at a press conference. Perry also worked as an actor. He was seen in the surfing film “Blue Crush” with Kate Bosworth. According to his own account and that of several media outlets, he played a small role in the fourth part of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series.

A spokeswoman for Honolulu’s emergency services, Shayne Enright, said the 49-year-old was attacked and fatally injured by the shark on Sunday afternoon off the north coast of Oahu. Rescue workers took him to Malaekahana Beach on a jet ski and were only able to confirm his death. According to local media, a shark warning was issued in the area after the attack. Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi described the surfer’s death as a “tragic loss.”
