Student pilot dies in light aircraft crash

On Friday evening, a small plane crashed in a forest in Hünxe in North Rhine-Westphalia. One person dies, the cause of the accident is still unknown.
A 58-year-old student pilot died when a light aircraft crashed in the North Rhine-Westphalian community of Hünxe. After the crash in a forest in the immediate vicinity of the “Schwarze Heide” airfield on Friday evening around 6:05 p.m., the 73-year-old flight instructor from Erkrath near Düsseldorf was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, as the responsible public prosecutor’s office in Duisburg and the police announced.
According to the information, the light aircraft was completely destroyed. According to information, the Bottrop fire department and the city of Dinslaken were on duty with a large number of rescue workers. It was said that the rescuers’ work in the impassable terrain was complicated. The investigation into the cause of the accident was carried out by the criminal police under the direction of the Duisburg public prosecutor’s office and the Federal Office for Aircraft Accident Investigation.
