Accidental death of a French soldier from Operation Barkhane in Mali

Adrien Quélin, a French soldier, died Tuesday, October 12 in Mali, announced on Wednesday General Burkhard, the chief of staff of the armed forces.

“Aged 29, the landlord Adrien Quélin belonged to the 4e regiment of hunters of Gap. He was single and childless ”, writes the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.

On Twitter, the Minister of the Armed Forces, Florence Parly, praised his commitment.

Mechanic in the Roc Noir desert battle group of the “Barkhane” force, he was carrying out a maintenance operation on a truck, in Timbuktu, in northern Mali, and was seriously injured by the tilting of the truck cabin while ‘he was working on the engine of the vehicle.

Despite being taken care of on site, he could not be resuscitated. An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
