Accident in Munich-Pasing: Tram crashes into Minicooper – Munich

A tram ran into a car in Pasing on Saturday morning. Two people were injured, some seriously. At around 10:45 a.m., a driver was driving his Minicooper on the Am Knie road in the direction of Pasing, according to the fire brigade. He wanted to turn around in his small car at Fritz-Berne-Straße and overlooked the tram coming from behind.

Although he immediately initiated emergency braking, the tram driver could not prevent the collision – the rail vehicle rammed the car on the driver’s side. The force of the impact trapped the driver of the Minicooper in the pelvic area between the center console and the door. Two passengers were able to get out of the vehicle on their own and unharmed by the time emergency services arrived.

In order to gently remove the trapped driver from his car, the fire brigade opened the roof of the car with hydraulic rescue equipment. The man was then freed and rescued from his car with a spineboard, keeping it on the right axis. He was then driven to the hospital. The tram driver suffered a shock in the collision, and he was also taken to a clinic.

The road had to be closed for about an hour for this operation. The car was totaled. The fire brigade cannot provide any information on the exact extent of the damage. The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
