Accident in Legoland: Kripo investigates negligent bodily harm – Bavaria

31 people were injured when two roller coaster trains collided in the amusement park in Swabia, including several children. How the accident happened is still unclear.

After the serious roller coaster accident in which 31 people were injured in the Günzburg Legoland amusement park, the Neu-Ulm criminal police are investigating. The proceedings are registered under the provisional allegation of negligent bodily harm; so far, this has not been directed against one or more specific suspects. A spokesman for the police headquarters in Swabia South in Kempten said on Friday on request. The authorities had closed the “Feuerdrache” roller coaster after the accident.

On Thursday afternoon, a train ran into the one in front. 31 people were injured in the impact, one seriously. An expert should examine the roller coaster on Friday, as the police spokesman said. Only then can a decision be made as to whether the roller coaster can go back into operation. So far it has not been clarified whether a technical defect or a mistake by the staff was the cause. Neither train derailed, nor did a passenger fall out.

An investigation is the usual procedure after such accidents. The public prosecutor’s office in Memmingen got an initial overview of the amusement park on Thursday evening. Apart from the closed roller coaster, operations at Legoland should continue as normal, as the company announced on Thursday. Last Saturday there was a serious amusement park accident in Rhineland-Palatinate when a 57-year-old woman fell from a moving roller coaster and died.
