The Ebersberg District Office and the Wheelmap steering committee would like to give the issue of accessibility new impetus. There will also be a Wheelmap tour in Zorneding on Friday, October 21 at 9 a.m. The meeting point is the town hall. The tour, which is organized by the municipality and the district office, lasts around two hours and ends at the Gasthof Neuwirt for an exchange of experiences.
A lot has happened since the last Wheelmap tour of Zorneding with participants from the VdK, the community’s disability officer and those affected to break down barriers for people with restricted mobility. The Wheelmap created at that time, an online map for finding and marking accessible places at www.wheelmap.orgis no longer up-to-date. Using this online platform, people with restricted mobility can use a simple traffic light system to find out about publicly accessible places and find out in advance whether they can be reached barrier-free – for example a public toilet.
The municipality invites all those interested to take part in the tour and, if necessary, to volunteer as a so-called wheel mapper in order to supplement the newly added barrier-free places on the Internet.
