A man was arrested Tuesday evening for having fatally stabbed his 22-year-old daughter in Tours 14 times all over her body, we learned Wednesday evening from a police source.
Despite the intervention of the emergency services and the police called by a neighbor, the young woman died on the spot, the same source said. Aged 45, the father, a priori without a criminal record, was placed in police custody but hospitalized because of his mental state, it was added.

On Wednesday morning, the Tours prosecutor’s office had confirmed the death of a woman and the placement in police custody of a person without specifying the sex. “The police custody is in its first hours, I do not have all the information, and I do not wish to hinder the investigation”, had indicated to AFP the deputy public prosecutor of Tours Delphine Amacher.
“The victim would not be the spouse of the respondent,” added the magistrate. “The autopsy has not yet taken place, I can only confirm that she was stabbed, but I cannot say at this stage that this is the cause of death”, according to the assistant prosecutor.
