A 60-year-old man is in police custody this Sunday in Nice, suspected of having committed the third feminicide of the year in France. Nice morning. An investigation is opened for “intentional homicide by spouse”.
It was the sixty-something himself who came to meet the police at the Auvare barracks, in the east of the city, reporting an argument that had broken out with his wife, telling officials that he did not know not what condition the victim was in. Sunday morning, the prosecution could not specify if it was his ex or his current partner.
The couple’s eldest son also in custody
According to the prosecutor, the 46-year-old woman was killed by strangulation. The couple’s eldest son, who owns the car in which the body was found, was also in police custody this Sunday morning. The investigation was entrusted to the criminal brigade of the departmental security.
As early as Saturday evening on Twitter, Christian Estrosi “denounced the horror of this assassination” which is “already the third feminicide on January 1 in our country”. Murders occurred on Saturday in Maine-et-Loire and Meurthe-et-Moselle. The mayor of Nice also specified that the victim “was an agent of [la] community ”of Nice.
