a woman dies near Nantes

A 15-meter fall, two vehicles in a ravine, a heavy truck on fire… And two victims, including a 25-year-old young woman who did not survive her injuries.

In the middle of the night, this Saturday, December 3, the violent face to face occurred on the road to Château-Bougon, in Bouguenais, a town south-west of Nantes (Loire-Atlantique). A truck and a car collided head-on. In the shock, the two vehicles would have left the road, before falling about fifteen meters. They apparently landed, below, in a ravine. The semi-trailer, which was transporting 18 pallets of milk, totally caught fire.

30 firefighters on site

Alerted, the emergency services moved in number around 3:40 a.m.: 30 firefighters on board six devices. The national gendarmerie, a mobile emergency and resuscitation team (Smur), as well as a specific intervention vehicle loaded with fire-fighting foam from Bouguenais airport, particularly provided for in the event of an air accident, were also on the spot.

The deceased young woman was driving the car: she had to be extricated. At the wheel of the heavyweight, a 32-year-old man, injured, was transported to the Nantes university hospital center. His days would not be in danger.

Around 6:30 a.m., the emergency services were still on site, in particular awaiting the recovery of the burnt truck. The circumstances of this head-on collision remain unknown at this time. The gendarmerie is in charge of the investigation.
