How does collective memory work when the Nazi past is less and less intertwined with people’s individual family biographies? A question that the production “Time Busters” deals with: A school class in the year 2433 discovers a time capsule. It contains centuries-old records by young people of the same age who, in 2023, dealt with their own present and recent past.

Accompanied by the theater teacher Eva Bauer, the young people developed a performance in a comprehensive workshop process that questions our culture of remembrance and expands our understanding of history. The director is the dramaturge Martín Valdés-Stauber, who has been involved in the long-term project since 2018 “fates” together with Janne and Klaus Weinzierl researched the biographies of those who were persecuted in the Nazi regime among the employees of the Kammerspiele.

After the premiere on February 25, at 8 p.m., Max Czollek will talk to Mirjam Zadoff, director of the NS Documentation Center, about his new book “Reconciliation Theater” (Hanser), which is significantly presented on the stage of a theater. A public discussion is scheduled to follow the performance on February 26th.
