Monday evening around 7 p.m., a semi-trailer finished its course in the water. He passed at full speed the French quay in Bassens, in front of one of the port guards of Bordeaux posted at entrance number 2, broke the control barrier, before falling into the Garonne.

The cabin at a depth of 10 m

It was the stunned guard who called the fire department. The latter tried to find the driver by mobilizing their divers but, Monday evening, the current and tide conditions did not allow the search to be carried out to the end, knowing that the cab of the truck was ten meters from depth. The vehicle was jammed against a bulk carrier, a freight vessel. A new attempt is underway this Tuesday at the beginning of the afternoon, thanks to the low tide.

It is not yet known what the truck, registered in Romania, was carrying, but it is not dangerous goods. The guard, shocked by the facts, was taken care of at the Bordeaux right bank polyclinic.
