He could no longer stand the noise pollution caused by the neighboring TGV line, also believing that it had caused the value of his house to plummet. A resident of Domagné near Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine) therefore took legal action against the company Eiffage Rail Express because of the proximity of the high-speed line to his home, located approximately 150 meters away, reports The Telegram.
At the end of last week, the administrative court agreed with him, observing that the railway line “is not subject to any acoustic development”.
Such visual damage
The acoustic study carried out on site also confirmed that the complainant was “particularly exposed both inside and outside the home to noise peaks when high-speed trains pass”, although the regulatory thresholds are not exceeded.
Not to mention “the visual damage linked to the presence of the track” which caused the price of the house to drop, valued at 60,000 euros. In the end, the company Eiffage Rail Express will have to compensate him to the tune of 80,000 euros.
