This Thursday morning, emergency services in Laon, in Aisne, are mobilized for what looks very much like a mass poisoning in a high school. If the symptoms are not misleading, the origin remains unknown to the authorities who have ordered analyses. At this stage, dozens of students and staff are affected without their health being in danger.
Hectic morning at the Paul Claudel high school in Laon, this Thursday morning. Many students and members of the educational community suddenly experienced nausea and vomiting, explains the department prefecture. At 12:30 p.m., around thirty people who were still experiencing symptoms remained under the supervision of three fire nurses within the establishment. Two students were still taken to the Laon hospital center “for medical examinations”.
“No track is privileged”
In addition to the students who remained there, the authorities counted 23 who had left the high school before help arrived. The families were contacted by the management of the establishment to “take stock of their state of health”, specifies the prefecture.
The Aisne SDIS services carried out investigations within the high school to try to determine the cause of this poisoning, in vain. They also took samples for analysis. “For the moment, no avenue is favored,” insists the State representative.
