A man arrested after throwing five Molotov cocktails at a police station

A 33-year-old man was arrested by the gendarmes of Saint-Ambroix, in the Gard. He is suspected of having prepared around twenty molotov cocktails and of having thrown five at the facade of the gendarmerie of this small town located about twenty kilometers from Alès. The facts occurred in broad daylight, Sunday around 1:15 p.m.

While the incendiary devices were sent with the intention of setting fire to the building, they did not have the desired effect. Once ignited, the cloth serving as a wick did not have time to reach the flammable liquid.

“Attempted Murder”

A gendarme was allegedly targeted, without being hit. The man was immediately arrested before he could launch the rest of his explosive cocktails. The prosecution has opened a judicial investigation for attempted murder on the depositary of public authority. To the gendarmes, the mis en cause would not have linked his gesture to the current social tensions in France.
