A “Harry Potter” star is also new
The stars of the fourth season of “Bridgerton”
The starting signal for the filming of the new “Bridgerton” episodes has been given – with a “Harry Potter” star as a newcomer.
The new love triangle
Fans of the series have known for some time that the second oldest Bridgerton offspring – and eternal bachelor – Benedict (Luke Thompson, 36) will be the next to embark on a love adventure. In August of this year, it was announced that Australian actress Yerin Ha (29) had been cast as his future lady love. Ha will play the role of Sophie Baek, better known to those familiar with the novel as Sophie Beckett. The name was changed for the series to honor the actress’s Korean roots. Just a few days ago, Ha was then via the official X-Account presented by Netflix in a short video.
Sophie Baek has her family in tow
Sophie Baek will not be arriving alone in season four. As has now been announced, actresses Katie Leung (37), Michelle Mao and Isabella Wei will be joining the cast. “Harry Potter” fans in particular will be familiar with Leung – she played Ravenclaw student Cho Chang in the film adaptation of the novel. In “Bridgerton” she will play Sophie’s stepmother Lady Araminta Gun, whose two daughters Rosamund (Mao) and Posy (Wei) are also on the marriage market.
While Posy stands out for her overly friendly nature, the vain and ambitious Rosamund immediately sets her sights on the “artist, charmer and bon vivant” Benedict Bridgerton. This means there is plenty of drama between the dissimilar stepsisters Rosamund and Sophie.
“Bridgerton” stars Emma Naomi and Hugh Sachs (60) can also look forward to significantly more time in front of the camera. According to the Netflix announcement, their characters Alice Mondrich and Brimsley have been promoted to main characters.
More space – more drama?
The new season will be filmed at Shepperton Studios near London. In order to make the series even more visually authentic, an impressive set was created there in recent months, which, according to Netflix, covers around 8,000 square meters. It includes entire streets in the Regency style.
In season three of the series created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes (54), the love story of Benedict Bridgerton’s younger brother Colin (Luke Newton, 31) with Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan, 37) was told. Compared to the book, the two storylines were swapped chronologically.
