A half-fig, half-grape assessment for “Secret Weapons”

The final of Koh Lanta was like this season. At the beginning, everything is still possible. Sometimes we hold our breath, we tremble, we wonder what’s going to happen. Then, over time, we tell ourselves that it still starts to drag on. This Friday, 50 minutes elapsed between the start of the (false) direct and the announcement of the winner of this edition. During this time, Denis Brogniart opened the souvenir album of Secret weapons, the perfect opportunity for us to take stock.

Audiences similar to 4 Lands

First of all, let’s talk little, let’s talk about numbers. This 22nd classic TF1 game season attracted an average of 5.51 million viewers, or 25.6% of audience share. A stable score since the previous edition, baptized The 4 Lands, had attracted 5.52 million people.

Note that these scores do not include replay views. The first episode of Secret Weapons, for example, was able to count on 933,000 additional fans by counting the data of MYTF1, bringing its total audience to 6.7 million curious. To know the final figures for this season, we will have to wait another week.

Maxine, new member of the club

At the end of a long suspense, Maxine therefore joined the club of winners of Koh Lanta. Faced with her competitor (and nevertheless friend) Lucie, the former gymnastics champion won with nine votes against four. “It’s my Olympic gold medal. I didn’t just win Koh Lanta, I won so many things in this adventure, ”she responded to Denis Brogniart.

During our predictions, we asked our readers who would win this edition. Probably, the announcement of Maxine’s victory made some happy and some happy since you were a majority, 46% exactly, to wish the consecration of Maxine against Jonathan (41%) and Lucie (13%).

For some of the faithful of Koh Lanta, the winner was “the most deserving” because she knew how to combine her physical capacities and the strategic side, essential in the adventure. For others, it was impossible for the Parisienne to win the support of a greater number of candidates because of her cheap shots.

Deemed too dishonest by some viewers, the image of the candidate however softened during the final, in particular thanks to the fusional bond which now unites her to Laure. “After tonight’s show, I must say that I like the Maxine / Laure duo, they are so cute”, posted a surfer on Twitter. “Even if I don’t like them too much, the Laure-Maxine friendship is beautiful I think”,
commented another.

Goodbye secret weapons?

“Frankly, the secret weapons, they were really cool”, dared to say Lucie when taking stock of her adventure. We want to believe her. The candidate could not have gone so far if she had not benefited from her hijacking of the vote, used against Magali during the antepenultimate episode.

The MMA champion crystallized the tensions thanks to the advantages she obtained over the days. The highlight was the use of her black bracelet, depriving Vincent and Laëtitia of their immunity necklace. At this point in the competition, we then wondered if Koh Lanta hadn’t gone too far with secret weapons. It was without knowing that all the strong heads would have disappeared the following week with the elimination of Thomas.

Candice, Aurélien, Mathieu, Shanice, Vincent and Thomas were among those candidates that we loved or hated. Thanks to these personalities, the reversals of the situation were legion during the first weeks of this adventure which, because of the eliminated profiles, ended up smoothing out over time.

In view of the generally negative reactions around the secret weapons (and especially Lucie’s black bracelet), the production will now have to take stock and ask the question of the return of some of them in a future edition. In the meantime, it is already time to edit the episodes of the new season, made up of former adventurers and adventurers, which is scheduled to be broadcast in September.
