A gang of “dangerous” criminals arrested after violent home-jacking against the British

A month of investigation to arrest eight individuals, suspected of violent home-jacking … The Perigueux prosecutor’s office announced Friday that eight men had been arrested Tuesday during a large operation carried out by the gendarmes one month after two burglaries in the Dordogne. These burglaries had targeted British nationals owners of luxury vehicles, one of whom had been shot and wounded.

These men, aged 18 to 42, were arrested in Dordogne and Charente during a simultaneous operation which mobilized a total of “nearly a hundred soldiers” from these departments and from the Bordeaux research section, with the support of the intervention units of the mobile gendarmerie of Périgueux and the GIGN branch of Tours, underlined the prosecution. Described as “dangerous”, they are known for acts of violence, arms trafficking and drug trafficking, according to a source close to the investigation.

Six indictments and three suspects remanded in custody

At the end of the police custody, six of them were indicted this week within the framework of a judicial investigation opened on April 21 of the counts of “organized gang robbery with weapon and concealment, attempted murder in organized gang, organized gang theft and concealment ”. Three were remanded in custody and three others released under judicial supervision.

The investigation carried out by the Bordeaux research section and the Nontron (Dordogne) research brigade under the direction of the prosecution began a few weeks ago after an attempted murder on a 63-year-old British national living in Javerlhac-la -Chapelle-Saint-Robert (Dordogne).

A cellar literally emptied

On the night of March 30 to 31 at La Chapelle Montmoreau (Dordogne), a second luxury vehicle was stolen to the detriment of other victims of British nationality, then absent. Their cellar is literally “emptied”, some 700 bottles of wine stolen, according to the source close to the investigation.

During the searches, a hunting rifle as well as objects from one of the burglaries were discovered, according to the prosecution. The investigation will continue under the authority of the investigating judge.
