A (fake) giant pipeline project worries

“I saw this morning that a pipeline construction project was launched at Butte-aux-Cailles, a reader of 20 minutes. It involves the demolition of certain buildings according to the signs and posters of the construction site. “False color lines on the sidewalks, fake building permits or even fake websites, everything suggests that a real giant pipeline will soon cross France from north to south. In reality, it is a large-scale hoax, set up in several major cities in France.

Named “Wecop”, in reference to the Eacop project led by the Total group in Uganda, this project was imagined by activists from the collective Le Bruit qui court, anxious to denounce “a climate and social bomb”. Their goal was to “do in France what Total is doing in Uganda, explains the collective in a video. […] If the project is not acceptable in Europe, why would it be in Africa? »

To make the hoax believable, several hundred volunteers sent fake expropriation letters to people in wealthy neighborhoods, then simulated construction sites in several major cities in France. The action, which lasted a day, encourages people to join the #StopTotal mobilization.
