A dozen customers will file a criminal complaint about the defective engines

“The Lilliputians join together to speak at the same level as the giant”, explains Me Christophe Lèguevaques who represents angry Renault customers. Some 1,782 people constituted, to date, in collective action will file a criminal complaint against Renault Group and Nissan, before the criminal court of Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), this Monday, June 5, announces The Parisian. Other victims will be able to become civil parties “as soon as an investigating judge has been appointed”, further specifies the lawyer.

Several thousand motorists consider themselves victims of a defective petrol engine (1.2 l) which was fitted between 2012 and 2018 in numerous models of the Renault, Nissan and Dacia brands: Renault Captur, Clio IV, Kadjar, Mégane 3, Scénic 3 ; Dacia Duster, Lodgy; Nissan Juke, Qashqai… The problem they denounce is characterized by abnormal oil consumption and premature engine failure. While the manufacturer manages incidents “on a case-by-case basis”, dissatisfied customers have therefore decided to unite.

The complaint will be filed in particular for “aggravated deception, deceptive commercial practices”, “fraud, destruction, damage and deterioration dangerous to people, endangering the lives of others”, specifies The Parisian.
