The animal disappeared at the end of last week. A bloodied and decapitated bovine head was discovered by a walker on Sunday morning in Pont-L’Abbé, near Quimper (Finistère). The head, which belonged to a 4-month-old calf identified by its registration number, was lying in a field. The rest of the body has not been found, reports The Telegram.
Disappointed, the breeders do not know what could have happened. They initially thought their calf had been stolen.
The national gendarmerie opened an investigation. The act recalls the series of mutilations of horses and cattle that occurred in 2020 in France.
