A charred body found, the suspect died

A charred body was found this Thursday by investigators from the judicial police of Brest (Finistère). It could be the body of Héléna Cluyou, the student from Brest who has been missing since January 29 and an evening spent at the One Club nightclub. According to The Telegram, the body was found in Argol, at the entrance to the Crozon peninsula. The identification has not yet taken place.

According to a source close to the investigation, the main suspect in this case died at midday at the hospital, where he had been admitted after a double suicide attempt. Cook in a restaurant located very close to the nightclub, Sylvain L. had confided to his relatives that he had “made a mistake with a girl”, while repeating that it was “an accident”. Plunged into a coma, he could not be heard by the PJ investigators.

He showed up at the police station

This Thursday, intense research was carried out between Brest and Quimper to try to find the body of the young woman. According to The Parisian, it was the geolocation of the phone of the main suspect which had prompted the investigators to go to this vast wild area which shelters some swamps. The cook who worked at the restaurant La Base, on the port, would have gone to this area after the disappearance of the young nursing student. His vehicle was found burned down last week. The main suspect presented himself on Friday February 3 at the Brest police station in the company of his brother and his sister-in-law to be heard there and to clarify a story of “car accident”.

His very worrying state of health had not allowed his hearing and the firefighters had been alerted. Sylvain L. had been transferred to the hospital without anyone knowing what he was suspected of. It was only the next day that his relatives made the connection with the disappearance of Héléna Cluyou and alerted the investigators. Hospitalized, Sylvain L. had again tried to end his life. He died in hospital six days later.

She had to sleep at her grandmother’s

On the CCTV images, investigators from the Brest judicial police had identified the silhouette of the young woman who was walking on the morning of January 29 in the Recouvrance district towards her grandmother’s home where she was to sleep. The tracking dogs had also sniffed her out but had suddenly lost track of her not far from there. The hypothesis of a car accident was issued but not confirmed by the investigators. Student nurse, Héléna Cluyou should have celebrated her 21st birthday on February 1.
