a biker arrested for attempted murder against a police officer in Firminy

A police officer was hit at high speed by a motorcyclist on Thursday while he was securing the area around the Firminy market (Loire). A young man in his twenties, suspected of being the driver of the two-wheeler having deliberately struck the police officer while trying to escape a check, was arrested and taken into police custody Thursday afternoon. The member of CRS 46 from Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon (Rhône) lost consciousness for several minutes. Seriously injured in a leg, he was hospitalized at the CHU of Saint-Étienne, but his vital prognosis is not engaged, specifies a police source.

The motocross rider lost control of his vehicle a few tens of meters after the impact, ending his race against a car. He and his passenger subsequently fled on foot, both without helmets, leaving the two-wheeler and a bag containing cannabis in place. Members of the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) therefore arrested the fleeing biker in Chambon-Feugerolles (Loire) on Thursday.

Known to the police, he is in custody in Saint-Étienne, as part of the investigation opened for “attempted murder of a person holding public authority” (PDAP). Research continues to try to locate the second individual involved.
