A base jumper survives a 90 meter fall thanks to trees

Sometimes vegetation is good. In any case, that’s certainly what a base-jumping practitioner thought, who survived a 90-metre-high fall in Essonne this weekend thanks to the trees. According to The Parisian, the 37-year-old man launched himself with his parachute from an antenna in Puiselet-le-Marais.

Unfortunately, the base jumper, which consists of throwing himself from platforms high enough to have time to open his parachute, missed his start. The victim crashed into the treetops, below this 90 meter high antenna, before continuing his fall without equipment.

Seriously injured, the man was hospitalized. Fortunately, his life is not in danger. This extreme sport regularly claims victims. In January, a 33-year-old British man jumped to his death from a 29-story building in Pattaya, Thailand. In Europe too, these accidents are unfortunately frequent, such as the fatal one of a 58-year-old jumper in the Italian Alps in June 2023.
