A balcony collapses in the 13th, a person between life and death

Who can imagine, when quietly enjoying your balcony, watering your plants or dining on a garden table, that it can collapse? However, this is what happened on the evening of Friday May 19 to two sixty-somethings in the 13th arrondissement of Paris according to the police headquarters, confirming information from Actu.

The accident occurred between 7:45 p.m. and 8 p.m. at 132 avenue d’Italie, according to Actu. Two people were transported to hospital with a vital prognosis, and one of them was still on Monday between life and death, according to the police headquarters, the other having received 90 days of total incapacity of work. An investigation was opened for involuntary injuries greater than three months.

Cracks reported four years ago

This is an HLM building of Paris Habitat which would have already been the subject of reports, according to France Bleu, for cracks. “One floor higher, for years already, the balcony was hardly used anymore for fear that a crack would get worse”, relates this media, which interviewed residents on the spot, one of whom claims that the balcony which collapsed had also been the subject of reports four years ago, without work being subsequently carried out.

Technical investigations will be carried out, according to the police headquarters.
