A new dramatic accident took place in the mountains on Tuesday afternoon. A 20-year-old cross-country skier died after a fatal fall in the Beaufortain massif, in Savoie, as indicated by the rescue services.
The victim was moving alone below the Grand Mont d’Arêches (2,686 m above sea level) when she fell down a slope, before descending a corridor “over several hundred meters” and jumping a rocky bar, specifies the Gendarmerie Platoon high mountain (PGHM) of Courchevel. Supported by a Dragon 74 civil security helicopter, the rescuers could only observe the death of the victim, “who was from the region”.
