A 17-year-old teenager was stabbed to death on Friday in Ivry-sur-Seine (in Val-de-Marne) in a “probable” brawl between young people, we learned from the Créteil prosecutor’s office and from police sources.

The young man suspected of being the perpetrator of the stab wounds is 15 years old, according to a senior police source from Val-de-Marne. The homicide would be linked to a rivalry born on social networks, according to another police source. The facts took place on the public highway, in a city of the city, said another police source.

The judicial police of Val-de-Marne is in charge of the investigation.

Several brawls in recent months

The phenomenon of rivalries between gangs of young people, with frequent but rarely fatal clashes, resurfaced in the news after the beating of young Yuriy in Paris in January, then the death in February in Essonne of two teenagers during two separate brawls.

In early March, two groups of young people from two districts of Champigny-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne) clashed in the street with knives and fists, leaving two seriously injured. Four minors were indicted on April 15 for attempted murder, complicity and aggravated violence.
