Cem Özdemir is said to be Minister of Agriculture. The members of the Greens still have to agree to this. Should it come to that, Özdemir wants to work primarily for better housing conditions.
The likely future Minister of Agriculture, Cem Özdemir of the Greens, has spoken out in favor of better keeping conditions in stables.
«Anyone who wants to eat meat is welcome to do so. Anyone who produces meat is allowed to do so, but taking into account animal welfare, climate protection and not at the expense of our environment, ”he told the“ Stuttgarter Zeitung ”and the“ Stuttgarter Nachrichten ”. “We will also ensure that investment funding is geared towards good keeping conditions in the stables in the future,” announced Özdemir.

The Greens announced on Thursday that former party leader Özdemir is to become federal minister of agriculture in a future traffic light government. He would be the first federal minister with a Turkish migration background. This was preceded by a bitter struggle between Realos and the left wing over the distribution of cabinet posts.
As a result, three out of five proposed Green Ministers are now unacceptable, two are leftists. Three women face two men.
The parliamentary group chairman Anton Hofreiter from the left wing is not part of the personnel board at top positions, which the 125,000 Greens members are to vote on together with the coalition agreement from Friday. It was actually considered to be set, but has now fallen out in favor of Özdemir.
