Love will have lasted three years. Started in the summer of 2018, the story between Stade Rennais and Clément Grenier will end this Sunday evening on the occasion of the reception of Nîmes at Roazhon Park. At the end of the contract in June, the midfielder indicated on his Instagram account that he would no longer be Rennais next season.
Today is my last with the @Rennais Stadium 🔴⚫️
3 magnificent years, a French Cup and 3 seasons in the European Cup … A big THANK YOU to all …
Now you have to finish the job #to give everything Win to regret nothing 🔥 I LOVE YOU ❤️ pic.twitter.com/xKFqXelksC– Clement GRENIER (@clemgrenier) May 23, 2021
“It is with great emotion that I prepare my last with Stade Rennais,” he said a few hours before the kick-off of the meeting. “Three magnificent years, a Coupe de France and three seasons in the European Cup… A big thank you to all… We must now finish the job,” he added a few minutes later on his Twitter account.
A full season and two more mixed seasons
Trained at Olympique Lyonnais then passed by AS Roma and Avant Guingamp, Clément Grenier played 92 games and scored nine goals in the red and black jersey. During these three seasons in the Breton capital, the French international (five selections) will have known ups and downs. Technical leader and locker room manager the first year, Clément Grenier was one of the great architects of the Coupe de France won on April 27, 2019 against PSG.
The following two seasons were then more mixed, the midfielder having long been dismissed by Julien Stéphan. Since the arrival of Bruno Genesio, he also had to settle for crumbs, making his departure inevitable. Close to signing for Valladolid last summer, Clément Grenier is now free to sign up wherever he sees fit for next season.
