After the film Supreme on the duo JoeyStarr and Kool Shen and the birth of NTM, in theaters on November 24, director Audrey Estrougo will tackle a new biopic. This time it will be a series, dedicated to the skater Surya Bonaly. The fiction will tell “the journey of a great champion, an icon with a rare and precious prize list”, explain the filmmaker and her producer Saga Blanchard in a press release. “It is also the portrait of an extraordinary heroine who struggles to emancipate herself and assert herself in the world of the 1990s: the fight of a black woman for justice and equality. “
Audrey Estrougo adds: “It is the fight she led against discrimination, particularly racist and classist, that motivates me to carry out this project”. No format or channel announced yet, but here is a series to follow, and proof that French fiction is no longer afraid to attack those who have made its recent history.
