Royals complete their first appointments in Kenya
In Nairobi, the British royal couple met President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto at State House on Tuesday morning.

King Charles III is there for four days. and Queen Camilla on a state visit to Kenya. At the start they were welcomed by the President.
21 gun salute for the Royals
The President received the British royal couple at State House in Nairobi with a celebratory ceremony including a 21-gun salute by the Kenyan Navy. It is Charles’ first state visit to a Commonwealth country since his coronation in May 2022.
After greeting us and signing the guest book, they laughed and planted an African fern tree. The Queen wore a white crepe silk dress by Anna Valentine with a diamond oyster brooch, which belonged to her mother-in-law Elizabeth II (1926-2022). In doing so, she remembered the late monarch, who was closely linked to Kenya. The then 25-year-old was in a game reserve in the East African country when she learned of the death of her father, King George VI. (1895-1952) and the associated rise to queenship.
Visit lasts until November 3rd
Charles and Camilla landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport late on Monday. The royal couple had on Instagram Insights from the long flight given to Africa. A video shows how the royals prepare for their visit and study documents.
Kenya was a long-time British colony and is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its independence this year. As Buckingham Palace announced, the visit will last until November 3rd to celebrate the “warm relationship” between the two countries.
