The Conran Shop: a flagship design brand
Terence Conran founded the Conran Design Group at the end of the 1950s. The designer first made a name for himself through his creations, before launching Habitat in 1964. By exclusively offering contemporary furniture, this chain of stores then created a small revolution.
If the first store The Conran Shop opened its doors in 1973 in London, it was not until 1992 that the brand moved to Paris. The store quickly became a major decorative address. A reference in terms of design, The Conan Shop offers the most emblematic creations from publishers such as Fritz Hansen, Vitra or Knoll.
From textiles to furniture and lighting, the brand also offers its own collections.
Pragmatic, The Conran Shop publishes basics with a neat look, which are above all intended to be practical. Among its icons: the Fold sofa, an indoor/outdoor model regularly brought up to date.
The Conran Shop: furniture to shop
From the bedroom to the balcony, The Conran Shop offers all the essentials to enjoy a stylish and functional interior. It is perhaps in the layout of the living room that the brand is most inspired, and its armchairs and sofas are undoubtedly among its most beautiful creations.
It’s not always easy to give character to the living room when space is limited! To enhance it, fall for Chiltern, a small 2-seater sofa with slender backrests. This particularity ensures you a cozy living room, with an airy decor.
We love Arbor, the collection designed by Matthew Hilton, inspired by the famous man Bibendum. Its big star is the rounded sofa. If it is offered in a great variety of fabrics and colors, we particularly like its version in white terrycloth, terribly cozy and very trendy.
It’s official: the gray sofa has not said its last word. Especially when it is reviewed and corrected by The Conran Shop! The Elgin model combines a retro silhouette whose lines are borrowed from 1960s furniture and a cocooning wool covering. This sober and elegant sofa is ideal for mixing old and new in the decor of the living room, avoiding bad taste.
The little twist that brings an original note to the living room is the pink sofa. By opting for peach-washed linen for its Planar Soft sofa, The Conran Shop offers an interesting variation. This elegant sofa is available in a corner version: a generous, yet airy model.
The Conran Shop usually offers complete collections for the living room. They usually consist of a sofa available in several sizes and an armchair. In the Sloan collection, it is the latter that commands attention. With its cubic format and its plump seat, it’s a real invitation to chill. Its little extra is this cushion which skillfully breaks its symmetry.
In the category of armchairs that attract all eyes, we fall for Sereno. This model with clean lines belongs to the customizable “Build your own” collection. This collection offers you the possibility of making a made-to-measure armchair by choosing the covering in a range of linen, a mixture of wool, cotton, textured linen, velvet and textured cotton. You are therefore certain to have the model that fits perfectly with your interior.
Minimalist, colorful and trendy: you can’t resist the Mag coffee table. This pyrolave piece (a volcanic stone from Auvergne) is available in round, square or rectangular format, and it finds its place both indoors and in the garden furniture. You can even divert it as a bedside table.
Desk or dressing table? With Latis, it’s up to you. One thing is certain: with its black and vintage cane look and its ultra-contemporary architectural lines, it immediately brings a touch of refinement to the decor!
If it is impossible to miss the sofa, another piece from the Arbor collection stands out: the King Size bed. With its headboard inspired by the Bibendum, it displays an original rounded silhouette. In addition to this neat aesthetic, it creates an intimate and cozy shell effect.
Functional and stylish, the Monument collection captures the essence of The Conran Shop spirit. The bedside table thus displays a successful mix of Mid Century inspiration and very contemporary lines. Its black upper surface is made of Fenix – a material with antibacterial and dust-repellent properties, which resists both fingerprints and scratches.
The Fold armchair is one of The Conran Shop’s most iconic creations. This outdoor furniture, winner of the Design Guild Mark award, is reinvented every season. And to tell the truth, it is so hot that we do not hesitate to install it indoors!
The star of the season is the Highline chair. And as often at The Conran Shop, this piece designed for the outdoors can perfectly find its place in the house.
