The municipality of Unterföhring is looking for a new head of its finance department. The 11,000-inhabitant community in the north of Munich is one of the financially strongest in Bavaria and regularly manages a household budget of several hundred million euros. Anyone who wants to be responsible for finance, accounting, taxes, fees and charges, asset accounting and the municipal treasury in Unterföhring should not be afraid of large numbers. The replacement is necessary because the previous treasurer and head of department, Robert Beckerbauer, will be stepping down from his post in mid-February and moving to the town hall of the municipality of Neuried, southwest of Munich. One reason for this is the housing situation.
Beckerbauer worked in Unterföhring for just three years. He regrets leaving the community and colleagues, he says. Since mid-2020 he had been renting with his family in Unterföhring, close to the center. Recently, however, the landlord announced that he would sell the apartment. A dismissal for personal use was foreseeable, says Beckerbauer. So the family looked around for a new apartment. Since Beckerbauer comes from the south of Munich and his parents live there, too. In doing so, the financial management expert came across a tender from the municipality of Neuried: the municipality from the south-western district of Munich also tried to fill the post of treasurer. And she threw a pound on the scales that is currently becoming more and more valuable in the Munich region: a company apartment right on site. “It was a package I couldn’t say no to,” says Beckerbauer. In April 2023 he will officially start his service in Neuried.
The municipality of Unterföhring hopes to quickly find a successor to Beckerbauer through its tender. Until this succeeds, deputy Sonja Miklobusec-Anwender heads the finance department. In order to win over the administration specialists who are being courted these days, Unterföhring advertises in the job advertisement, in addition to the collective payment for public service, a regional allowance for the Munich region and “if necessary” a labor market allowance as well as an employer travel allowance. In addition, the municipality now offers applicants the prospect of “helping to find housing if necessary”.
