“Soulmates”: Couple proposes marriage at the same time
Bee Nichols and James Kavanagh went to primary school together and became a couple in lockdown. Now they made a marriage proposal at the same moment.
Understanding each other blindly is supposed to be one of the best prerequisites for a functioning relationship. If that’s true, Bee Nichols and her fiancé James Kavanagh needn’t worry anymore. The couple are so on the same wavelength that they even proposed at the same time.
During her winter holiday in Latvia, 29-year-old Bee got on her knees in front of James. She had no idea, however, that her partner had planned exactly the same thing on the same day. Bee forestalled him, James said yes. It’s a clear sign they’re soul mates, Bee wrote on Twitter, noting that they also wore matching hats.
Marriage proposal on winter vacation in Latvia
Bee and James have known each other for ages, going to primary school together in Hertfordshire, England. But it was only during the Corona lockdown that their paths crossed again and they became a couple. Both had moved back in with their parents during the pandemic. The engagement was the logical next step, Bee Nichols told the BBC. The holiday in Latvia seemed like the right setting for her: “It was so romantic and I had found a ring for James that matched mine.”

Wedding as a sin of the environment: Six things that you should rather leave alone
The Englishwoman organized a dog sled ride, after which the couple climbed an exit tower – and there Bee proposed to her partner. She probably didn’t expect the reaction: “I hope you don’t mind, but I was also planning to propose to you,” James replied. In hindsight, Bee can figure it out: She noticed that James was pretty quiet during the trip. At the moment, however, she was perplexed – and happy.
A tourist who also happened to be standing on the observation deck took a picture of the scene, and Bee posted the photos on Twitter, receiving many enthusiastic responses. “When I look at these pictures, I’m immediately back in the moment,” she says.
