The number of patients in intensive care, down slightly, drops below 5,900

The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized in intensive care fell below 5,900 people on Saturday, slightly below the previous days, according to figures published by Public Health France.

In total, there were 5,877 people in critical care services (which include resuscitation, intensive care and continuous monitoring), against 5,914 on Friday.

In 24 hours, 359 patients were admitted to these services which treat the most serious cases, against 463 the day before.

For a week, the number of Covid-19 patients received in these services has evolved a little above 5,900, still far from the peak of the first wave in April 2020 (7,000).

The total number of people in hospital is also down slightly with 30,329 coronavirus positive patients currently hospitalized, against 30,472 the day before. A total of 1,471 people have been hospitalized in the past 24 hours.
