Daniel Günther, Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein, calls for the quarantine rules for people infected with corona to be relaxed. He also gets involved in the energy debate.

Schleswig-Holstein’s Prime Minister Daniel Günther has called for a significant relaxation of the quarantine rules for people infected with corona. “Currently, infected people have to be isolated for five days, even without symptoms. My suggestion: only those who have symptoms stay at home,” said the CDU politician to the “Bild” newspaper. There is currently no need for “rules that unsettle people, but rather those that protect vulnerable groups.”

If the situation deteriorates, there must be an opportunity to intervene quickly. “The current laws are sufficient for this,” said Günther.

Schleswig-Holstein’s Prime Minister takes a cold shower

According to his own statements, Günther has been taking ice-cold showers in the mornings for many years, as he also tells the “Bild”. “I only have to turn it a bit warmer when washing my hair, otherwise it won’t foam,” said the CDU politician. In order to save energy, he is also not going to the sauna at the moment.

The Vice President of the Bundestag, Wolfgang Kubicki, who also lives in Schleswig-Holstein, reported a few weeks ago: “I mostly take cold showers. In that respect I can recommend it to many people. You’re also fresh in the morning if you take a cold shower.”

When asked how citizens should save energy, Günther said: “Every citizen knows best what he could possibly do without. It is important to me that the financially privileged should set a good example.” As a possibility he mentioned not to heat private swimming pools anymore.

Günther for the same electricity prices in North and South

Günther also called on the federal government to abolish differences in electricity prices between northern and southern Germany. “Schleswig-Holsteiners have to pay more for electricity than Bavarians because we feed more renewable energy into the grid and pay higher grid fees for it. The federal government has to change that,” said Günther.
