Destiny is a lousy traitor …
When TV presenter Silvia Laubenbacher (“SAM”) was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, it was a shock for the cheerful TV presenter. A twelve centimeter tumor was removed, she had her breast removed and an implant inserted. And yet she never lost hope.
In 2017 she said in an interview: “I found a lot of strength in faith, in prayer and in the words forgiveness and peace. My MRI has been without findings for a few months, I am healthy. But I also know that the Cancer-Damocles sword will hang over me for the next ten years. That’s why we don’t put off anything anymore, but live more consciously today than before and the family has moved closer together.”
Indeed, the best medicine was the love and support of her family.
Her husband, the former radio and TV presenter Percy Hoven (57, son of acting star Adrian Hoven), Silvia’s mother and her children Taro (19) and Yuma (21) stood by her side, supported her, made her courage, laughed and cried with her. Above all, together they believed in a miracle.
Now BILD learns exclusively from the closest family circle: Silvia Laubenbacher lost the fight against cancer at the age of 56.
She died around 1 a.m. in her Munich apartment last night, her loved ones were with her. She didn’t want to go to the hospital anymore, was treated with morphine and fell asleep on a palliative basis.
Sentences that Percy Hoven once said about his marriage and his wife’s illness give an idea of how great the pain in her family must be: “We live in an almost symbiotic relationship. It went so far for me that I suddenly had symptoms like depressive phases, back pain or insomnia. But I didn’t want to give Sylvie any reason to doubt that everything will turn out fine. She needed faith in my strength.”
Now Percy Hoven and his children must be strong without a beloved wife and mother.
