The decision has fallen. The prefect of police announced on Thursday that he wanted to ban the “freedom convoys” in Paris which planned to “block the capital” from Friday. The latter, inspired by a movement launched in Canada, aim to protest against health restrictions,
“A specific device will be put in place (…) to prevent the blocking of roads, verbalize and challenge violators of this ban”, added the police headquarters in a press release.
Departures from the south of France since this Wednesday
Leaving this Wednesday from the south of France, truckers and individuals spread the word about militant groups on social networks in the hope of generating a mobilization comparable to that of Ottawa.
“The stated objective of these demonstrators would be to block the capital by obstructing road traffic in the streets of Paris to promote their demands, before continuing their journey towards Brussels on Monday February 14”, details the prefecture.
The police prefecture prohibits any demonstration of the #ConvoidelaLiberte from Friday to Monday (inclusive) in Paris.

The prefect of police, who gave “firm instructions” to the police, recalls that obstructing traffic is punishable by a two-year prison sentence, a fine of 4,500 euros, immobilization and the impounding of the vehicle, the reduction of half of the maximum number of points of the driving license and its suspension for a maximum period of three years.
