6:16 p.m .: Nearly 180 positive inmates at Villepinte prison (Seine-Saint-Denis)
It is the largest current home in French prisons. The remand center has 179 inmates positive for Covid-19, out of 988, and 29 cases were counted among the employees. The number of positive cases among detainees had risen to 202 as of January 1.
In the process, all collective activities (library, gym) were eliminated, as was work in the workshops. Full coveralls and FFP2 masks were distributed to guards when they are in detention buildings and to inmates who continue to work (laundry room, kitchen, distribution of meals, etc.)
In addition, visiting rooms have been abolished for positive detainees or contact cases. They are maintained for the others, but with a plexiglass wall over the entire height.
