King Charles will travel to France for the 80th anniversary of D-Day, but William will attend the main event alone.

On Prince William (41) is under a lot of pressure these days. His father, King Charles III (75), and his wife, Princess Kate (42), have to undergo treatment for cancer. For the British heir to the throne, this means that in addition to worrying about his closest family members, he has to take on additional tasks for the royal family.

Also this week: Buckingham Palace recently announced that the Prince of Wales will be attending the international commemoration of the 80th anniversary of “D-Day” in Normandy as the Crown’s representative. On June 6, 1944, which became known as “D-Day,” the landing of Allied troops in Normandy began during the Second World War. The day marks one of the most significant turning points in the Second World War.

William will attend the main event for the 80th anniversary on behalf of his father. According to media reports, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (46), US President Joe Biden (81), Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (52) and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (65) will also be coming to France at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron (46).

These are the Royals’ dates for “D-Day”

The multi-day event marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day begins on June 5. King Charles and Queen Camilla (76) will attend a national memorial event in Portsmouth, England, together with William. A British ceremony at the military cemetery in Bayeux will meanwhile be attended by D-Day veterans and their families. Princess Anne (73) and her husband Tim Laurence (69) are also expected to attend.

King Charles and Queen Camilla will be at the British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer, France, on the morning of June 6. It is Charles’ first trip abroad since he announced his cancer diagnosis in February.

Canada will also hold a ceremony on the morning of June 6 at the Juno Beach Center in Courseulles-sur-Mer, attended by Prince William, while Joe Biden will lead a US ceremony in the presence of D-Day veterans.

William meets Biden and European royals
