Trade association BW criticizes warning strikes

Criticism of the warning strikes came from the general manager of the trade association BW, Sabine Hagmann: “I have no sympathy for strikes on such a day,” she told SWR. The union has not moved a millimeter in the negotiations so far.

ver.di wants to increase the pressure on employers in collective bargaining

With the actions, the union wanted to put pressure on the employers in the ongoing wage negotiations. Collective bargaining for around 490,000 employees in the retail sector in Baden-Württemberg was again adjourned on Wednesday without any result. ver.di had rejected the employer’s offer as completely inadequate.

The offer provided for a wage increase totaling 7.5 percent over the next 24 months. In addition, a tax and duty-free inflation compensation premium of 1,000 euros was proposed, as announced by the Baden-Württemberg trade association. In addition, the employers offered to raise the lower hourly wages to a base value of 13 euros with the first of three increases. ver.di demands 15 percent more money for a term of one year. The third round of negotiations in the wage dispute is scheduled for June 23. ver.di has been negotiating in Baden-Württemberg since mid-April about more money for employees in the local retail and mail order business.
