7 secrets: bartenders reveal what really annoys them about guests

Watch the video: Bartenders reveal what really annoys them about customers.

Bartenders deal with countless guests every day. Some customer behavior drives her crazy. On Tiktok, bartenders including Nick (@NickAtNite) from Florida, Clancey Brooker (@ClankyBabes) from Australia and Hayley Kendall (@hayken412) from Georgia share what really bugs them.

  1. Ask for a “strong” drink

Some bartenders report being asked to put a lot of alcohol in the drink as they prepare it. Only ask for it if you’re willing to pay twice.

2. No fancy cocktail names
Bartender @NickAtNite isn’t a fan of complicated cocktail names. “There used to be someone who wasted my time googling Skinny Bitch…it’s just vodka and soda.” If it were up to him, you should order what you want in the drink right away.

3. Rest your arms on the bar
Bartender Clancey Brooker from Australia gets upset about customers who put their arms on the bar and then complain that it’s wet. “Where should I make your drink please? I really need to shoo them away.”

4. “What is your actual job?”
Many bartenders report that they are often asked what they work “for real” or “actually”. Bartender Hayley Kendall says the question is inconsiderate and offensive. For example, she has a university degree, but she still decided to be a bartender.

5. Wave credit cards
Clancey Brooker finds it extremely annoying when someone wants to pay and waves their credit cards around at the counter. If she had her way, customers should wait patiently until she got there with the card reader/payment machine and only then pull out their credit card.

6. Customers who say “Surprise me”
For bartender Rachael (@litterallysoirrelevant) from the USA, this sentence is absolutely horrific. She doesn’t know what the guest likes and doesn’t want to risk that a drink doesn’t taste good. If someone gives a hint what he or she likes, she is happy to recommend a drink.

7. Customers who don’t read what’s written on the beer taps
Bartender Rachel doesn’t like it when someone asks what beers are on tap while sitting right in front of the beer taps and seeing what’s on tap. The same goes for customers who are sitting right in front of the beer list and just don’t want to read it.
