A group of 40 people close to the ultra-right, who were preparing to join the Champs-Elysées in Paris after the semi-final of the World Cup won by France against Morocco, were arrested, in particular for wearing a Prohibited weapons, we learned Wednesday evening December 14 from a police source.

The group was arrested in the 17th arrondissement of the capital during a check for “organization with a view to committing violence” and carrying prohibited weapons, the same source explained, stressing that several of the members of this group were known to the police for their membership of a movement close to the ultra-right. “They clearly wanted to do battle on the Champs”a police source added.

It was argued, from the same source, that these arrests had been made possible thanks to the control and prevention system put in place around the Champs-Elysées. Some 2,200 police and gendarmes were mobilized in Paris on Wednesday evening to supervise the festivities following the France-Morocco match won (2-0) by the Blues.
