4-year-old child killed in Le Mans: police appeal for witnesses

The driver is actively sought. A call for witnesses has just been launched by the police of Le Mans (Sarthe) after a 4 and a half year old boy was run over on Monday afternoon by a driver who fled.

Around 4:30 p.m., the little boy was at the foot of his building in the Sablons district, and had to go across the street to a playground. It was there that he was run over by a car, whose driver fled. Quickly taken care of by the emergency services, the boy died on the way to the hospital.

The driver of the car, which was driving at high speed, was still wanted on Tuesday, and an investigation has been opened to identify him and determine the circumstances of the collision. The driver is “a male of African descent with dreadlocks, 30 to 40 years old and possibly with a child on board”, writes Le Figaro.

The police are appealing for witnesses to find the motorist who hit the little boy on rue de Mauritanie near the intersection with rue de Pologne, before fleeing towards rue de l’Estérel.

The vehicle sought is a small model of the Citroën or Peugeot brand and in metallic light grey. In case of information, the investigators of the accident brigade of the police station of Le Mans call to call 02.55.46.22.66 or 02.55.46.20.00.
