3rd league: TSV 1860 Munich loses at Waldhof Mannheim – Sport

Nobody expected this line-up. It was known that captain Stefan Lex would miss TSV 1860 Munich in the third division top game at Waldhof Mannheim – he had to sit out after correctly counting five yellow cards. But then three other regular players were missing for a short time: Semi Belkahia, Dennis Dressel and Quirin Moll. The club was initially silent about the reasons, it was heard that they were ill. After the game, the TSV then announced that before the departure there had been “ambiguous and therefore suspicious results” in the routine rapid corona tests, of which three affected people subsequently proved positive through PCR tests. In the end, the lions were missing ten players – in order to fill up the substitute bench, two goalkeepers took a seat next to nothing but teenagers.

A teenager was also on the field – the only 17-year-old Leandro Morgalla stepped in in central defense alongside Stephan Salger, because in addition to Belkahia, Niklas Lang (ill, but no corona) was also absent for a short time. And Morgalla’s debut in the starting XI started as unluckily as all the circumstances were for Sixty: Just 100 seconds had been played and the white-blue smoke from the Löwen fan block had not yet cleared when he conceded a handball in the penalty area, the penalty to 0: 1 initiated a 0-3 defeat. Goalkeeper Marco Hiller initially cleared Dominik Martinovic with his foot artistically, but Marcel Costly hit the ball with a quick reaction.

“It was a very poor game, the goals were very unfortunate,” says Köllner

How the young Morgalla then defended himself against fate in front of the impressive backdrop of 11,760 loud spectators was exemplary for the entire TSV team on Sunday afternoon. He still made a big blunder, which almost led to the 0:2 shortly after the change of sides, otherwise Morgalla was solid. “It’s not easy to put up with something like that, but he still did it really well,” praised colleague Salger at Magentasport. But super orderly was far too little for the sixty-notelf against more determined and biting Mannheimers. In the first half, Munich were only concerned with preventing further damage.

After the change of sides, they came into play much better and through Marcel Bär, who failed from a tight angle by goalkeeper Timo Königsmann (54th), they had their best chance. But after (as usual) 60 minutes, the Ultras, who reappeared for the first time after their mood boycott because of the Corona measures, ignited pyrotechnics again. The game was interrupted and after the restart, Mannheim immediately got the second penalty. This time it was Goden’s hand, but unlike the first penalty, there was some debate as to whether Kevin Goden had actually done anything punishable.

For Salger, the decision of the Bavarian referee Florian Badstübner was “a joke”, “superbitter and absolutely wrong”, because: “He tries to pull his arm away.” This time it was Joseph Boyamba who didn’t really care and didn’t give Hiller a chance to defend (66′). 1860 coach Michael Köllner summed it up like this: “It was a game with very few chances, the goals were very unfortunate.” From his point of view, Badstübner was wrong twice: At 0:2 you have to “ask the referee how he came to the decision”. And before the 0:1 and Morgalla’s handball, Köllner had seen a “double foul” against his players in an endless confusion of headers in and around the penalty area.

After the international break, third-placed Saarbrücken comes to Giesing for a direct duel

And anything else? In the 72nd minute, Köllner Marco Mannhardt, 19, and Lorenz Knöferl, 18, came on, in the 84th minute Milos Cocic, 18, came on. In the fifth minute of injury time, Pascal Sohm, 30, duped Mannhardt and increased to 3:0 .

TSV 1860 is now six points behind relegation place three, with seven games remaining. That sounds more hopeless than it is: The lions are still hoping that Türkgücü will be taken out of the standings and that the gap to the third Saarbrücken will be reduced by five points. And after the international break, in which the Toto Cup semifinals at regional league club Aubstadt are scheduled for Saturday, 1. FC Saarbrücken will come to the stadium on Grünwalder Straße for a direct duel (Saturday, April 2nd). Then, in addition to Lex, Belkahia, Dressel, Lang and Moll should be able to participate again. Central defender Salger didn’t want to lean too far out of the window for the game: “We’ll keep at it, we don’t want to be accused of anything. But we’re just a side note in the fight for promotion.” As a side note, quite a lot had happened on that Sunday afternoon in Mannheim.
