The package is to be decided by the Bundestag on Thursday, and there is also to be a federal-state summit on the same day to coordinate further measures. According to the traffic light package, the federal states are allowed regulations up to 2G-Plus, SPD chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz recently no longer ruled out nationwide 2G regulations, which mean a de facto lockdown for unvaccinated people.

FDP boss Christan Lindner is no longer ruling out a partial vaccination requirement because of the many vaccination breakthroughs, for example in nursing homes. “In the case of job-related vaccination, it was argued that caregivers would then partially leave their jobs. But there are also other, new arguments. I want to wait for this debate among the experts before I commit, ”Lindner told the RND.
SPD leader Saskia Esken emphasized in the ARD that she would advocate “that we sharpen the bill again”. With a view to clinics, care facilities, schools and day-care centers, she also emphasized: “We are definitely debating compulsory vaccination in these areas.” So far, the federal government, including Chancellor Merkel, had always excluded such vaccination requirements.
