HSV now has to tremble for third place in the 2nd Bundesliga. Chaser Dusseldorf shortened the gap with a win over Kiel. Rostock breathes a sigh of relief after beating Regensburg 2-0.

Fortuna Düsseldorf has returned to the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga.

With the 3:0 (3:0) over Holstein Kiel, the fourth in the table reduced the gap to the relegation rank to four points. Buoyed by the blunder of Dreier Hamburger SV, who had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to Paderborn the day before, Daniel Thioune’s team made things clear early on. In front of 28,935 spectators in Düsseldorf, Shinta Appelkamp (14th minute), André Hoffmann (19th) and Daniel Ginczek (24th / penalty kick) scored to win.

Hansa Rostock managed an important step out of the danger zone. Thanks to the 2-0 (1-0) in the basement duel with Jahn Regensburg, the former Bundesliga club improved to 13th place. Kai Pröger (34th) and John Verhoek (79th) scored the acclaimed goals. In contrast, the guests remained second to last on a direct relegation zone. The athletically less explosive showdown between two teams from the middle of the table ended with a 2-1 (2-1) victory for Karlsruher SC over Hannover 96.

In the fight for promotion, a first decision could be made this Saturday evening (8:30 p.m.). SV Darmstadt’s return to the top flight would be perfect with a win over St. Pauli, because the leader’s lead over HSV three games before the end of the season would be an unassailable ten points.
