Darmstadt and HSV continue to climb

The promotion favorites started the second half of the season with home wins, there are no changes in the top four places. Sandhausen and St. Pauli get important victories in the relegation battle.
SV Darmstadt 98 and Hamburger SV are still well on the way to the Bundesliga. HSV beat Eintracht Braunschweig 4-2 (2-1) on Sunday and stays close to leaders Darmstadt, who had already won 2-0 (2-0) against SSV Jahn Regensburg on Saturday.
In the fight against relegation, SV Sandhausen managed a surprising 2:1 (2:1) at Arminia Bielefeld, the previous bottom of the table even climbed to twelfth place. FC St. Pauli also managed an important victory with 1:0 (1:0) at 1. FC Nürnberg.
HSV left no doubt about the club’s ambitions against Eintracht from Braunschweig, which was threatened with relegation, but after a strong initial phase they still got themselves into trouble. A few minutes before the final whistle, Danilo Wiebe (81.) scored the goal to make it 2-3, and Braunschweig pushed for the third goal. Only Ludovit Reis (90th) made the decision late with Hamburg’s fourth goal.
“The game actually felt great, but it wasn’t all perfect. Sometimes we still lack sovereignty,” said HSV double goal scorer Robert Glatzel (3rd and 49th) on Sky. “Scoring in this atmosphere at the Volksparkstadion is just brilliant. We gave it our all for 90 minutes, created a lot of chances and deservedly won in the end.”
Victories also for Heidenheim and Kaiserslautern
Thanks to a 2-0 (0-0) win over Hansa Rostock, 1. FC Heidenheim stayed third in the table and only one point behind HSV. Also promoted 1. FC Kaiserslautern lurks in fourth place after the 3: 1 (0: 1) in the top game on Saturday evening at Hannover 96.
And even SC Paderborn, fifth in the table after the 1-0 (0-0) win at Karlsruher SC and despite being seven points behind third-placed Heidenheim, still has hopes of promotion, as does sixth-placed Fortuna Düsseldorf with the same points, who beat the 3-2 on Friday 1. FC Magdeburg had further exacerbated relegation worries for the promoted team from Saxony-Anhalt.
It’s particularly tight in the bottom of the table, with Rostock in ninth place and Magdeburg at the bottom being four points apart.
