That won’t work in the fight against relegation. Two crisis clubs in the Bundesliga lose, Hertha gets a point. RB Leipzig received a sensitive setback in the premier class race.

The relegation candidates VfB Stuttgart and FC Schalke 04 experienced a sobering Saturday in the Bundesliga.

The Swabians remain last due to the 0:3 (0:0) at third in the table 1. FC Union Berlin, the Gelsenkircheners, who are only one rank higher, lost 0:3 (0:0) against Bayer Leverkusen. After all, Hertha BSC collected a point with the 1-1 (0-0) at SC Freiburg, but remains on the relegation place.

RB Leipzig suffered a setback in the fight for places in the Champions League next season with the 0: 3 (0: 1) against FSV Mainz 05. The gap to Freiburg in fourth place is two points. Despite a 2-0 lead, FC Augsburg only managed to draw 2-2 (2-0) at VfL Wolfsburg.

Bayer sovereign on Schalke

Leverkusen took the lead through Jeremie Frimpong’s goal (50′), Bayer needed two quick passes to overturn the Schalke defense. National player Florian Wirtz (61st) scored the second goal, which was reassuring from a Leverkusen perspective. Sardar Azmoun (90+2) followed up shortly before the end.

Sheraldo Becker (51st) scored for Union and brought VfB even greater relegation problems. The 28-year-old Dutchman was ill during the week but made it into the starting XI. Kevin Behrens (67th) and Genki Haraguchi (68th) decided the game within minutes.

Hertha fell behind in the second half through a goal by Vincenzo Grifo (52nd). The Berliners didn’t give up afterwards and scored a deserved equalizer through Jessic Ngankam (77′).

Home bankruptcy for RB

Marcus Ingvartsen (9th) put FSV in the lead in Leipzig – and put RB in trouble. So far this season, the Saxons had not won after falling behind, and that remained the case. After the break, Ludovic Ajorque (57th) increased Mainz’ lead before Dominik Kohr (67th) was also successful.

Maximilian Arnold (2nd) scored early in Wolfsburg, but with an own goal against his own team. In the 20th minute, the 28-year-old missed a penalty kick. New international Mërgim Berisha (32nd) increased for FCA. But Luca Waldschmidt (85th) and Felix Nmecha (90th + 6) still ensured the draw.
