A 19-year-old mountain climber died on a trip to the Karwendel Mountains. According to the police in Murnau am Staffelsee, the young man from the Erlangen-Höchstadt district was alone in the mountains on Tuesday evening, where he suffered fatal injuries in a fall. Rescue workers found his body in the area of the Viererspitze, a 2054-meter-high peak in the Northern Karwendel Range. He was reported missing on Wednesday night.
Police and mountain rescue services then searched for the 19-year-old with numerous forces and a helicopter crew from the German army. He was recovered dead early on Wednesday morning. It is currently unknown why he had the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
